How We Began
From One Family's Story to a Community's Lifeline
Thomas Legacy Foundation was established in honor of a beloved family member whose life — shaped by special needs and the challenges of aging — taught us what it truly means to advocate, to love unconditionally, and to fight for dignity.
Thomas Legacy Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for underserved and special population groups to live, learn, connect, and thrive. We believe every person deserves access to the skills, resources, community support, and basic necessities needed to achieve greater independence and an improved quality of life.
Today, Thomas Legacy Foundation serves families across 18 communities — providing resources, advocacy, and the kind of human connection that changes everything.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower underserved individuals and special populations through skill development, education, community-based support, resource connections, and food security initiatives. We work to remove barriers, increase access to opportunities, and help individuals and families build pathways toward stability, independence, and long-term success.
Our Vision
Our vision is to build inclusive communities where individuals of all abilities and circumstances are valued, supported, and equipped to reach their fullest potential. Thomas Legacy Foundation envisions communities in which access to education, practical life skills, meaningful relationships, nutritious food, and essential resources is not determined by disability, age, income, or circumstance.

Founder & Executive Director
Montray Thomas Porter created Thomas Legacy Foundation after navigating the special needs system with her own family. A certified Neurodiversity Specialist and educational leader of 32 years of experience, Montray leads with heart and purpose.
